 Black and White Toile Shower Curtain

Toile, which means cloth is French, has a history that can be traced back the 1700's when the fabric was first manufactured by a German born man who located his factory in a village not to far from Paris. The factory produced only the highest quality products made principally from cotton. Most early prints were in black and white so featuring a black and white shower curtain has a long history.

Many of the modern shower curtain designs we see today including those on black and white toile shower curtain were developed hundreds of years ago. Many prints feature images associated with the Far East because of the fascination this area held for people back.

Of course, when toile fabric was first made in France the prints featured many scenes from the French countryside including prints that depicted people at work and relaxing as well. Because hinting was a favorite pastime of the well-heeled back then hunting scenes are quite common.

Toile also featured images from the United States with some of our founding fathers such as John Adams, Ben Franklin and George Washington were featured with many scenes from the Revolution.

This new fabric shower curtain is titled---Countryside Toile.  It is 70" x 72", and 100% polyester--can be machine washed and dried.  It is mildew resistant and anti-bacterial.  It has a black print on a cream-colored background.
